Under the guidance of Dr. Alexandra Tunstall, professor of the 20th-Century Art class, Spring 2024
This art journal is the culmination of a quarter-long academic project. As a class assignment, we collaborated in groups of three or four to curate an exhibition centered on a specific twentieth-century art movement. Each participant selected one artist active within that movement to deepen their research. The collaborative effort produced an introductory essay that set the stage for our exhibition catalog, and individually, each student contributed two catalog entries for selected works by their chosen artist. These entries provide detailed visual descriptions, contextualize the artworks within the artist’s career, and explore their significance within the broader art movement. The group also designed the catalog's cover and developed a unique item for the exhibition’s gift shop, which is a sticker sheet and a set of postcards with Constructivist artworks of each of the artists mentioned in the exhibit. This project showcases our dedication to understanding art history and highlights our creative engagement with the material studied.
